Gmail on Nokia 6260 (Symbian)
Some very kind person today invited me to receive a free Gmail account, for which I am very grateful. By the time I came around to registering for the free e-mail account in the first place, it was too late.

One of the main attractions was the cool web interface and the POP3 access. People were saying that POP3 access can't be done on a mobile phone though, but when I read this post on AllAboutSymbian, I was able to have full access to my Gmail account on my Symbian Smart phone. here are the settings;

In your messaging Application, create a new mailbox called 'Gmail' or something (you can have loads, so there shouldn't be any need for you to delete any existing mailboxes) then in the settings for that, apply the following;

Access point in use : Any access point that has full web access (I use 'O2 Mobile Web')

My e-mail address : You don't need me to tell you what to put in here

Outgoing mail server : smtp.gmail.com

Send message : Whichever suits you. I prefer 'During next conn.'

Send copy to self : Up to you. I say 'No' (If it has 'No Thanks', I'd use that because I'm terribly polite ;-)

Include Signature : Again, up to you. I don't have one so I say 'No'

Username : obviously, your Gmail username, but remember to include the '@gmail.com'

Password : If it's the name of your dog then you need to change it because it's too easy to guess!

Incoming Mail Server : pop.gmail.com

Mailbox type : POP3

Security : SSL This is important in that it's not normally required for most e-mail settings, but here it is, so don't forget to set it
