Learn how to setup or remove OP logo, manually or with some other 3rd party application! But that's not all, as always we offer something more, here is the guide which will teach you how to make a ??€?transparent-looking??€? OP logo (like on nokia s40 phones for example). Well, if you ever tried then you probably know that S60 phones don't support gif's as op logo, they use bitmap image format without masking support, this means that op logo looks very ugly on all complex background, essentially in all other backgrounds besides the default/white one. copyright (c) Symbian freak 2005, all rights reserved
Also I??€m finding a solution on how to make ??€?neutral logo", which can fit any theme and which allows completely clear idle screen without any influence of network info. So if want to know how to make/setup the op logo to fit theme background like the images below and avoid damn ugly non transparent Op Logos, or if u just want to clear network info at all and keep your idle screen clear of any influence, keep reading this guide..

Lets do it...
Let??€s do it... You would need the following: All of above tools (apart from Photoshop) U can find and download for free at our download section. First off all little history The operator logo is the picture on right top part of your phone idle screen, which appears instead of active network info in text format, in most cases it is a stylized name/logo of your operator. OP logo is a Bitmap file size of 97 x 25 pixel stored under following path: C:\System\Apps\Phone\OpLogo\ They are named by some important rules in following fomat: xxx_yy_ww.bmp Where is the:
Code | Descripton | Sample | XXX | Mobile Country code | 219 | YY | Mobile Network code | 1 | WW | Mobile Subnet code | 0 |
Mobile Country Code (MCC) and Mobile Network Code (MNC) The operator needs to be assigned a Mobile Country Code (MCC) and a Mobile Network Code (MNC) since these codes are part of the IMSI number, which is used as the main subscriber key in the GSM location databases. The MCC is the first field of the IMSI and is three digits in length; it identifies the country. The MNC is the second field of the IMSI and is two to three digits in length; it identifies the network within the country. The MNC, in combination with the MCC, uniquely identifies the home network of the mobile terminal or mobile user. The allocation of MCCs is administered by the ITU-T, International Telecommunication Union. Figure 1 IMSI Structure
The ITU-T publishes the list of Mobile Country Codes in its form, Complement to Recommendation E.212, "List of Mobile Country or Geographical Area Codes." This form is available from the ITU web. MNCs are administered by the designated administrator within each country (usually the national telecommunication authority of regulation). The operator can recommend the MNC but in all cases the country regulator will have to approve it.
For example:
Croatia T-mobile (219 01) => 219_1_0.bmp
Spain Vodafone (214 01) => 214_1_0.bmp If u doubt about your network code u can find the list of country codes at [this] and network codes at [this] link, and keep in mind that u need to ignore the leading "0" in the network code if they exist. Guru tip No 1:
Also keep in mind that you can store as many OP logos as u want, for example if U travel very often and roaming is usual for U, or U have several SIM cards from different operators, U can simply make logos for every single network and they would change automatically with the network you??€re currently subscribing to.
| That has been a short description of Op logo, essentially it is a basic info which u need to know before u proceed to next part of this guide. If you read and understood the above section, you can proceed to:

How to setup clear (Full transparent) logo As u can see on the left image I??€m finding for a solution on how to make neutral "logo", which can fit to any theme and which allows completely clear idle screen without any influence of network info.
Advantages of this kind of Op logo is obviously at first look, essentially if you read carefully the previous part u probably know that u need to create separate logo for every single theme which u use, it is not a problem for a designer like me who can work with Photoshop with my eyes closed, but for somebody who don??€t have any experience in raster graphic editors, it can be very difficult job. So I??€m looking for a solution which would allow easy creation of the ??€?wow??€? effect idle screen with just basic symbian knowledge and of course without the necessity of learning how to work with complex software such as Photoshop. Also this part would be useful for users who are just too lazy to create and setup different logo for every single theme and change them as well. And of course for all users who just prefer clear idle screen without any unnecessary influence on it. So if u recognize yourself in one of those mentioned category keep reading this part carefully, otherwise u can proceed to part three.

Guru tip No 1:
Don??€t try to setup this type of logo automatically with other 3rd party application such as fexplorer or any other programs which has the ability to manipulate the operator logo.
Why!? Because just one simple reason, all currently available soft always resize picture to default size (97x25) before setting them up as an OpLogo, in this case, it will result to a white rectangle instead of a clear logo.

How to setup transparent looks like logo Here it is, the last and the most complex part. If you read previous parts carefully, than you probably already know that I will try to explain how to create a transparent logo on a simple and the most easier way, in great, but also very difficult tool for newbies who don??€t have any experience in raster graphic editors. I'm talking about Photo Shop of course, the best available raster graphic editor. Also, I will describe basic actions with MBM wizard and manipulation with multiple MBM file.
So, if you are a brave man, if you aren't afraid of PS and raster graphic and you want to know how to make/set-up the op logo to fit theme background like on images above and avoid damn ugly non-transparent Op Logos keep reading this guide... | |
