SymTorrent
SymTorrent
SymTorrent is the first full-featured and complete [[BitTorrent]] client for Symbian OS. It supports downloading multiple torrent files at the same time, is capable of both downloading and uploading and can save the status of your unfinished torrents, so you can resume the downloads after restarting the application. You can also check the status of each file inside a torrent along with several other statistics and properties during download. Currently, it is available for mobile devices based on the S60 Platform 3rd and 2nd edition. SymTorrent is free (and open source) software, distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License. Since version 1.10, SymTorrent can accept incoming connections. This means that other peers can connect to your mobile phone if it has an IP address which is visible to other participants of the network.

Symbian UIQ Open
Symbian UIQ Open
It's the openness of UIQ that lets you write great applications and that makes the UIQ platform useful to many and give a glimpse of what will become mainstream. To demonstrate what the UIQ platform is capable of, we want to show the fantastic work of all involved: the UIQ 3 phones and the creativity of the developer community - your creativity. Participate in the UIQ Open, an application competition where you submit your most creative UIQ 3 application(s) and a panel of judges picks up to two winners in five categories to reward each with a UIQ phone, marketing and commercial packages and more. On top of that, the winners will have their application featured in the UIQ Demo Suite 2007.

Participation in the UIQ Open is free of charge. You can submit your applications until February 18, 2007, but register early.

All types of submissions are welcome: amateur personal demos, open source projects, commercial applications - all are entitled to win as we will award entries that best show off the UIQ platform. Cool technologies, original use of functionalities, innovative solutions, even porting of successful applications from other platforms is what matters. If your application is cool or trendy or eye candy or ground-breaking or revolutionary or has the potential to make you filthy rich or is simply addictive, then don't wait, enter the competition: winning the UIQ Open is the perfect showcase for it!

For the full details of the competition, read the Description and rules.

Advanced Calculator
We are lamenting over the “weak” calculator included on the Nokia E61. That was before I knew about Welic’s free and amazingly powerful advanced calculator. The application provides more functionality than what the vast majority of calculator users’ would ever want. But for those of you who want a robust calculator this is it. It is programmable, supports trigonometric functions as well as base-N mode and logical operations.
